Cardioids condenser instrument microphone

The newly remodeled STC-1 is perfectly suited to recording instruments of any kind, as a drum overhead or for simply capturing room ambience. Thanks to its three-stage filter and pad switches, the STC-1 is one of the most flexible microphones in its class.

The STC-1 comes in a luxury, velvet-lined wooden box with a mounting clip and windshield, and it is compatible with the Sontronics OMNI and HYPER capsules, available separately.

Choose either the STC-1 Silver in a brushed nickel finish or the STC-1 Black with a satin finish and gold lettering. Available as a single STC-1 mic or as an STC-1S matched pair.


 
 

the STC-6

NEW! Handheld condenser microphone

The STC-6 builds on the success of its predecessor, STC-5, with a completely new design from the ground up. It has a studio-grade, gold-sputtered cardioids capsule that delivers a crystal-clear performance every time.

Being more sensitive than a dynamic microphone, the STC-6 captures your voice in significantly more detail, giving the kind of clarity and definition that you’d normally only expect from a studio mic.

The cardioids polar pattern helps to reject sounds entering the capsule from the sides, essential for producing a clear image on stage. The recessed switches offer a 75Hz high-pass filter to help reduce any stage rumble, when the microphone is on a stand, and a -10dB pad that helps to reduce the possibility of overload and distortion when recording very loud sound sources.

The 22mm capsule sits in a shock mounted cradle to help reduce handling noise while the radial grooves in the body help to maintain grip in the most demanding of performances. For added reliability, the tip of the electrode post is spiked to assist in removing any oxidation and provides a positive pressure to the capsule electrode at all times.

The STC-6 is supplied in a high quality, tough yet light aluminum carrying case and includes a mic clip.

 
 

the STC-80

NEW! Handheld dynamic microphone

The new STC-80 is Sontronics' first dynamic microphone and is a natural addition to our condenser mics: the STC-5 and the recently released STC-6. Since the launch of the Sontronics brand in 2005, many customers have requested that we include a dynamic handheld mic in our range, so here it is!

The STC-80 gives great results on vocals and speech but is equally at home recording guitar cabinets, snare drums and tom-toms. With superb sound quality and low handling noise, the STC-80 boasts the same rugged construction and the anti-slip body grooves as our new STC-6 condenser mic.

the STC-2

Large-diaphragm cardioids condenser microphone

The STC-2 employs a one-inch, gold-sputtered capsule and is ideally suited for recording vocals, spoken word and acoustic instruments. The evenly balanced frequency response delivers a defined low-end and a very detailed, open top-end, accurately capturing your subject
in all its colours.

The STC-2 has a very smooth high-frequency roll-off, ensuring a natural presence to your recordings. In addition, its low-cut filter and -10dB pad switches will help you get the best from your recording, making this microphone a truly flexible all-round tool for your studio.

A ‘spider’suspension mount is provided, which helps to isolate the sensitive microphone from any transient noise traveling through the mic stand.

the ORPHEUS

Multi-pattern condenser microphone

With omni, cardioids and figure-of-eight patterns, as well as a 10dB cut/boost function, the ORPHEUS is the perfect workhorse in practically any studio or live sound application. Its low self-noise and unmistakable presence allow you to record the subtlest of instruments or voices without the need to edit afterwards.

The highly sensitive 1.07-inch dual-diaphragm capsule is suspended in its own special mount, almost floating in the large, spherical basket. The body is cast from zinc alloy, which gives almost zero resonance and helps to keep the signal crystal-clear.

The ORPHEUS comes supplied in a luxury wooden case, lined with black velvet, and really does sound as good as it looks.

   
 

the ST-POP

Vocal pop filter

The Sontronics ST-POP is an adjustable pop filter, and is an essential piece of equipment for anyone recording speech or vocals.

The dual-layer nylon mesh significantly reduces the ‘popping’ noises associated with plosive consonants, such as ‘p’ and ‘b’. Similarly, the harshness caused by sibilant sounds – ‘s’, ‘z’, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ – is also dramatically reduced, helping you capture the best possible recording from the very beginning.

The flexible arm allows simple and accurate positioning when clamped to any microphone stand. Maintenance is easy too: just unscrew the clamp at the bottom of the ring and remove the cartridge. This can be cleaned in warm, soapy water and left to dry naturally. A replacement nylon cartridge is also included, so that your Sontronics pop filter is always there when you need it.
